Both Class 10 and Class 12 have 5 compulsory subjects. To be declared qualified, a student must appear and pass all the 5 subjects. The possible scenarios are as follows:

🔹 For Class 10 students: If they are unable to appear in two exams, they will be placed in the compartment category and can appear in supplementary exams held in July every year.

🔹 For Class 12 students: If a student is unable to appear in one exam, he/she will be placed in the compartment category and can appear in supplementary exams held in July every year.

🔹 In cases where a student is unable to appear in any of the exams, CBSE provides him/her with an opportunity to appear as a private candidate in the next year's board exams.

Additionally, if a student with the issued admit card is unable to appear in any CBSE exam, NIOS provides the facility to appear in all 5 exams in the same year. NIOS will issue a certificate.

Can I Solve Questions in any Order in my Answer Sheet?

The following guidelines are important for board exams: Always write the correct question number clearly in the space provided before solving a question, even if you are not following the order of the question paper. This helps the examiner to easily identify which question you are answering.

✅ Neat & Organized Writing – Maintain a clear and structured format with a proper gap between answers. Avoid overwriting or scribbling.

✅ Avoid Duplication – If you answer a question twice, clearly cross out the one you do not want to be evaluated.

✅ Time Management – Plan wisely and allocate enough time for all questions, especially those you will attempt later.

✅ Confidence First – Start with questions you are sure about to boost confidence and secure marks.

✅ Read Carefully – Understand the question thoroughly before answering, regardless of the order.

✅ Focus on Clarity – Provide precise and well-presented answers, ensuring legibility and accuracy.
