NEET Merit List 2024 : State-wise Merit Lists, All India Quota (AIQ) & and Tie Breaker Criteria

The NEET Merit List includes the names, NEET scores, and ranks of candidates eligible for the counselling process. Both the MCC and state authorities release the NEET Merit List PDFs on their respective official websites. NEET Merit List 2024 will be released by the NTA based on NEET 2024 scores for candidates who opt for 15% AIQ seats. This merit list will be sent to the DGHS, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, to be provided to the MCC for conducting 15% AIQ NEET Counselling. Based on the ranks and scores obtained in NEET 2024, MCC will allocate seats through NEET Counselling.

According to the revised Inter-se NEET Merit List Tie Breaker Criteria, age is no longer a factor in assigning ranks.

Initially, the authorities release provisional merit lists, based on which candidates participate in the admission process. After each round of counselling concludes, the final NEET allotment lists are released, containing the names of the candidates, their ranks, and the name of the allotted college.

NEET Merit List 2024

• All India Merit List: The AIR list will be released by NTA and include the rank numbers and names of all candidates who appear for NEET 2024. It will not consider the candidate’s category or AIQ reservation status.
• All India Quota Merit List: This list will showcase the test takers selected for the AIQ 15% reservation. Applicants wishing to claim eligibility independently must submit an online self-declaration, which will be printed along with the confirmation page and must be submitted during counselling.
• State Merit List: State medical councils will prepare their own merit lists for counselling based on factors like domicile requirements. It will depict the state rank of candidates compared to other applicants from the same state.
• Example: The All India NEET merit list will arrange candidates’ All India Ranks (AIR), while the AIQ merit list will compile AIQ ranks of qualified candidates, and so on.
• Eligibility Criteria for Counselling: Only candidates who meet the eligibility criteria established by their respective states/union territories can apply for the counselling process conducted by those authorities. These bodies will release a final list of all eligible candidates.
• State/Union Territory of Examination: This considers the candidate's appearance for the NEET UG 2024 exam from a specific state or union territory.
• State/Union Territory of 12th Completion: The candidate's completion of 12th grade education from a state or union territory, as mentioned in the NEET 2024 application form, also plays a role in their eligibility for the state merit list.
• AIQ NEET Merit List 2024 for Non-Jammu & Kashmir Candidates: This list includes candidates who successfully cleared NEET 2024 and are not residents of Jammu & Kashmir. Candidates from Jammu & Kashmir who completed the declaration form during the NEET 2024 application process will also find their names in this list. Those who did not fulfill this requirement will not be included.
• Important Note on Counselling: Candidates in the AIQ NEET 2024 merit list will be subject to counselling administered by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) rather than the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).

NEET 2024 State Quota Merit List

Candidates who qualify NEET 2024 by scoring marks equal to or higher than the cutoff will be eligible for All India Quota admissions. The merit list will have as many names as there are seats under All India Quota. Counselling for these candidates will be based on their All India Quota Rank.

• There will also be a waiting list equal to four times the merit list if required by the DGHS (Director General of Health Services).
• Candidates who wish to take admission in AFMC must apply separately on their website since they will hold a second screening process.

NEET 2024 State Quota Merit List

For the 85% of state quota seats, each state conducts separate counselling. To secure admission under the 85% state quota seats, candidates must pass NEET with the minimum cutoff percentile.

• All interested candidates participating in state-level counselling must complete the application form before the deadline.
• Registered candidates are then required to attend document verification.
• Based on the registrations and verifications, each state prepares a provisional NEET state-wise merit list 2024.
• Most states across India release a separate NEET state rank list for each round of counselling.

NEET Merit List: Tie Breaker Rules

In cases where two or more candidates achieve identical scores in the entrance exam, the following tie-breaking criteria will determine their positions on the NEET All India Merit List 2024. This year, the age criteria and application form number, which were used as a last resort previously, have been eliminated.

1. The candidate with higher marks in Biology will be prioritized.
2. If the tie persists, the candidate with higher marks in Chemistry will be given precedence.
3. Next, the candidate with higher marks in Physics will be assigned a higher rank.
4. If the tie still remains unresolved, the candidate with less proportion of incorrect answers relative to the total attempted answers will be ranked higher.
5. Following that, the candidate with less proportion of incorrect answers in Biology will be prioritized in the rank list.
6. If the tie persists, the candidate with less proportion of incorrect answers in Chemistry will be given precedence in the rank list.
7. Finally, the candidate with less proportion of incorrect answers in Physics will be prioritized in the rank list.
