As per the new exam pattern the CBSE Board will conduct class 10th board exam once. Therefore, the CBSE Class 10 Syllabus 2025-26 has been released and advised the students to use.

What is the Objectives of the CBSE Syllabus 2025-26 Class 10

Changes in CBSE Syllabus 2025-26 Class 10: Topics Removed

As per the direction of NCERT the CBSE has removed some of the topics from the CBSE Class 10 Syllabus 2025-26: democracy and diversity, Mughal courts, and poems by Faiz Ahmed Faiz.

Types of Questions As Per the New Syllabus of Class 10 CBSE 2025-26 & Exam Pattern

The CBSE Exam pattern has also changed a bit because term wise exam has been discarded for the ongoing academic session 2025-26.

Hence, all students should be aware of the types of questions & their weightage: 40% multiple-choice questions (MCQs), 20% competency-based questions, 40% subjective questions.

Competency-Based Questions: Weightage 40%

In order to answer Competency-Based Questions a student must have a strong grip on the topics explained in their NCERT Books along with strong observation skills.

After revision of the CBSE Class 10th Syllabus, the Competency-Based Questions have a total of 40% weightage so that students can avoid the rote learning process and instead focus on behavioral or situational types of questions where they are required to use their presence of mind too.

Therefore all students must focus on practicing such questions before appearing in the CBSE Class 10 board exam 2025-26.

Objective Type Questions (MCQs): Weightage 20%

Last year the CBSE board gave the 50% weightage to objective or MCQs types of questions however, this year the board has assigned 20% weightage to Objective Type Questions.

The Objective types of questions include Assertion and Reasoning questions, True and false questions, Fill up questions, Statement questions, etc.

To answer such types of questions, candidates must be aware of the core concepts of the topics.

Subjective Questions: 40%

Subjective types of questions contain long answers as well as short answer types of questions. This year the CBSE board has given 40% weightage to subjective questions.
